Longwood Gardens

Wow.  I haven't made a blog post for almost six months!  That's a really long time.

I hope to post more regularly now, starting with this one.

This week we spent Monday at Longwood Gardens.  Here are a few photos I took:
Hibiscus are one of my favorite kinds of flower!

Can you see the frog?
The Wisteria Garden was in bloom.  It was beautiful!

Boo!

This is Boo.  Boo is a Pomeranian dog with a haircut.  After looking at the pictures, it probably won't surprise you that a lot of people consider Boo to be the world's cutest dog.  Doesn't he look like a teddy bear?

A Conglomeration of Random Pictures

Since we haven't gone on any big trips or anything like that very recently, I am going to put together some random pictures.  Many of them were taken before I started this blog.  Enjoy.

One way you can learn to drive before you're sixteen.

Jenna's expression in this picture makes me laugh!
We were on the 'Froggy Hop' ride at Dutch Wonderland. :)

Who can resist our kittens?  I miss having kittens in the house!

The Sky Typers are airplanes that write in the sky.
Chanel took this of me riding Goldie, a Haflinger, this summer.

My dad took this picture on his way to Haiti in 2010.

Thanks for viewing my post!

A Quiz for You

I am going to throw together a short quiz about Irish dance.  See how much you know!
The answers are at the bottom.

1. Before going onstage at a competition, Irish dancers usually:
             a. Suck on ice cubes
             b. Glue their socks to their legs
             c. Drink a whole ton of soda
             d. Tell each other to "break a leg"

2."Oireachtas" (pronounced o-ROCK-tis) is an Irish word meaning:
            a. "dancers", specifically "Irish dancers"
            b. "Championships" and is used to refer to our Regional Championships
            c. "The nervous feeling that Irish dancers get if the forget their dance steps when they walk onstage"
            d. "Oireachtas" is just a word that Savana made up

3. Which of the following is not an Irish dance move?
            a. bunny
            b. bird
            c. bicycle
            d. back click

4. A "traditional set" is a certain dance done to a specific piece of music.  There are seven of them and they all have names.  Which of the following is not a traditional set dance?
            a.  King of the Fairies
            b. Saint Patrick's Day
            c. Emerald Isle
            d. Three Sea Captains

The Answers:
     1. - b.  Irish dance judges can actually take points off if your socks fall down, so we use sock glue to prevent that.  No one wants to look sloppy!:)

     2. - b.  I did not make this word up!  Our Oireachtas is in Philidelphia over Thanksgiving weekend.  Spellcheck doesn't seem to think "Oireachtas" is a word.  Humph.  They're wrong. :)

     3. - a. I have never done "the bunny".

     4. - c.  "Emerald Isle" is a nickname of Ireland, but it isn't a traditional set.

Sea Isle City

Our family spent last week in Sea Isle City, NJ., with our grandparents. . . . . . . . .

Behold the grape-gobbling toucan from the Cape May Zoo.

We got a great view of the giraffes.

Squirrel!

Since it was off season, we didn't have to share the beach with many people.

Our aunt took some pictures of us at the beach.

We visited Cape May on Friday and they had a new peanut butter store.

Chanel and Jenna goofing around in a toy store in Cape May.:)

A funny sign from a candy store on the Boardwalk in the Wildwoods, which we visited on Fri. also.

I took this picture and the one below it on our last day.

The butterfly from the last post!:)

Weekend in the Woods

Cassandra and I in the swan boat!

We went on kayaks for the first time.
We didn't have to go far to get a great view.
While my sister and I hang from the edge of a cliff, holding on for dear life, Mom insists on taking a picture.
Okay, Chanel is much better than I am at pretending to be terrified.:)

A random picture of a monarch caterpillar in our sunroom.  It is hanging there right now in it's chrysalis so maybe I'll post some pictures of the butterfly when it emerges!
