Spring Fun

It's been a while since I've posted and a lot has happened!

Cassandra's birthday was on April 24th.  Unfortunately, I don't have any good pictures of that.

On the 17 of May, we went to visit our cousins in New Jersey.  They live on a farm so we got to see the animals, shoot guns, run around and eat some of my grandma's recipe of fried chicken ....... delicious!

Jenna with a gun.  That's a little scary, but our cousin, Bryce, is a great teacher.
I got to shoot the shotgun at clay pigeons.
My mom even shot!

The next day (the 18th) was my Irish dance competition Maryland.  It was my first feis in my solo dress.  I ended up with three thirds and an eighth in my dances, which had about 19-22 dancers each competing in them.  My next competition is called Celtic Fling Feis and it will be in June at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire.

The traditional picture at the result wall.  For some reason, we do this at every feis. :)

Interveiw Time!

Hi everyone!  For this post, I quizzed my sisters with some not-so-normal interview questions (and I went ahead and answered them too).  You'll probably learn something new! :)  I have more interview questions written down; I'll probably post them in the near future.  Have fun reading!

What's the strangest food you ever tasted?

Cassandra: Deep-fried squid!
Savana: Probably duck.
Chanel: Wet cat food
Jenna: Cow tongue - it was good!

If you could have a zoo animal as a pet, what animal would you choose?

Cassandra: A panda.
Savana: I'd love to own a camel.
Chanel: A river otter!  They're so adorable and playful!
Jenna: Probably a river otter.

What's your dream vacation?

Cassandra: My dream vacation would be going to Nashville, Tennessee, and meeting the members of Pure NRG (my favorite music group).

Savana: I'd love to go a lot of places, but high on my list is going to Brazil and seeing the Amazon rainforest with some friends!

Chanel: I want to go to the beach with all my friends.

Jenna: Going on an airplane to India and Brazil to preach to people about Jesus.

What's you strangest or silliest fear?

Cassandra:  Doctor appointments!

Savana:  Calling people or businesses on the phone.  I tend to stumble over words and forget what I was trying to say!

Chanel:  I'm scared of elevators and of being run over by the trash truck.

Jenna:  Police officers, because they have guns!

List a career you would definitely not want to have.

Cassandra: I definitely would not like to be a surgeon.

Savana: I'm not planning on becoming a fashion model, counselor or kindergarten teacher.

Chanel:  I would not want to be a trash collector because they are very scary or a preschool teacher.

Jenna:  Police Officer!

Share a fun fact about yourself.

Cassandra:  I like cannoli - and Italian pastry.

Savana:  I like stargazing, and (sorry, this is two) I know Morse Code.

Chanel:  I was kissed by a monkey!  Ask me about it. :)

Jenna:  I have ridden a horse all by myself before.

Happenings at the Martin House

I changed the background of my blog because I don't want a wintery background anymore!
In this post I'll fill you in on some things that happened recently!
Two weeks ago I was in the hospital overnight with pneumonia, but now I'm basically back to normal.  Yay!!

My sisters decorated a gingerbread house from a kit Cassandra got (never mind the fact that Christmas was like 3 months ago).  Mom didn't let them eat it, but they still had fun.

Jenna's seventh birthday was on the 16th.  We had a small party at our house with our grandparents, uncle and aunt.  She got some Playmobil (as if she needed more of that), yarn and needle for knitting, a tiara from Uncle James and Aunt Bea, and some outfits, which she got on a shopping trip with Grandma.

I got a solo dress (for Irish Dance) a little while ago, but I didn't post any pictures of it.  I'll compete in it for my next feis.

Igloo!

Yesterday Chanel and I spent the afternoon outside making an igloo.  It took forever, but it fits two people inside.  We made it right in front of the trampoline because all the snow we had to shovel off the trampoline made a great pile.  Of course, our kitty Jessie liked it too.....

Feis na Cara 2014

I had a great day at the feis last Sunday.  It started with a really bad hair day (the pouf that was supposed to be in front of my wig completely disappeared) but I ended up doing well in my dances.  I got the last 1st place I needed to be completely in Prizewinner, and I was also pleasantly surprised by a Prizewinner 1st in my treble jig.  In my other two dances (reel and hornpipe) I tied with people for 2nds.  At an Irish dance competition, you have to wait a little while after you dance for the scores to be posted.  Below is a picture of me at the scoreboards.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to post any movies of me dancing at a feis because taking pictures or movies of people dancing in competitions is prohibited. :(

Jan. 4th, 2014

Today we went sledding at Bomberger's hill, which was really fun, and in the evening we watched Duck Dynasty!
